Lynchburg
College welcomes and values transfer students from Richard Bland College who
have completed an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science Degree, and are
appropriately prepared to pursue a Baccalaureate Degree.
Therefore, upon application, Lynchburg College will
guarantee acceptance of any Richard Bland College graduate with an Associate in
Arts or Associate in Science Degree who has earned a minimum grade point
average of 2.50, exclusive of physical education courses, and has been
recommended by Richard Bland College. (Students who are not native speakers of
English should score at least 520 on the TOEFL examination.) This guarantee assumes
there are no other factors in a student's academic or personal record that
might prevent acceptance. For
guaranteed acceptance, applications must be received by May 1 (for Fall term)
and January 1 (for Spring term). A
student with a grade point average below 2.50 will be considered for admission
also, but without the guaranteed acceptance.
Lynchburg
College will waive the application fee for Richard Bland College students who
apply for admission to Lynchburg College.
Lynchburg
College will offer accepted applicants from Richard Bland College priority
consideration for available financial aid if they apply for aid by the
recommended deadline of March 1.
Lynchburg
College agrees that Richard Bland College graduates who are accepted under this
agreement will receive transfer credit for all courses completed at Richard
Bland College that correspond to or can be considered an equivalent of courses
offered at Lynchburg College, and for which a grade of "C" or above
was earned. Credits earned with the grade
of "C" or above at accredited institutions other than Richard Bland
College that satisfy Richard Bland College degree requirements will be treated
on an equal basis as credits earned at Richard Bland College.
These
transfer students will be designated as junior-level students, but will be
required to complete any unfilled Lynchburg College General Education
Requirements. Richard Bland College
graduates transferring to Lynchburg College can generally expect to graduate in
two years, depending upon their choice of major and assuming that they take
normal course-loads and make satisfactory progress at Lynchburg College. When calculating eligibility for General
Honors at graduation, academic grades earned at Richard Bland College and at
Lynchburg College will be considered in accordance with Lynchburg College's
graduation policies.
Students who begin as first-year
students at Richard Bland College and graduate from Lynchburg College within
six consecutive calendar years will come under the degree requirements in the
Lynchburg College Catalogue effective upon their initial enrollment at Richard
Bland College. Students who do not meet
the above criteria must meet the Lynchburg College graduation requirements
under the catalogue of their first-year of enrollment at Lynchburg College.
Lynchburg
College and Richard Bland College agree that the faculties and staffs of the
two institutions will work together to maintain a course-by-course evaluation
of all courses listed in the Richard Bland College Catalogue. Richard Bland College faculty and advising
staff will encourage prospective Lynchburg College transfer students to meet
the spirit and content of the Lynchburg College General Education Requirements
to the greatest extent possible, including enrollment in foreign language,
religion/philosophy, and literature courses at Richard Bland College. Likewise, the Academic Advising Center and
the appropriate program coordinators at Lynchburg College will offer counsel to
Richard Bland College students who plan to transfer to Lynchburg College
concerning course requirements and programs of study.
Richard Bland College agrees to
support the transfer agreement with Lynchburg College by indicating the
relationship in appropriate, literature and through its web site.
This
Statement of Agreement will remain in effect until terminated by either party
upon written notice to the other party of an intention to terminate. Such notice shall be effective only if given
180 days prior to the intended date of termination. Upon termination, the agreement will remain in effect for two
additional years to accommodate students currently pursuing the transfer
program at Richard Bland College.
