New Students

Blackboard Username

Your Blackboard username is your RBC Student Email ID without @rbc.edu.

All new students as of Fall 2007 will have their user names randomly generated and must follow these instructions listed below.

To find out what your RBC Student Email ID is please do one of the following:

· Access Banner Web and view your Personal Information tab, then click View Email Addresses

· Contact your advisor

· Check with the Library Staff

· Check with the Academic Computing Lab

   Remember: Your Blackboard username is your RBC Student Email ID without @rbc.edu.

Password
Your password is defined as capital ‘P’ followed by the last six digits of your SSN.

Please note:  Your Student Email password and your Bb password are initially the same.  However, changing your Bb password does not change your Student Email password- it only changes your Bb password and your Student Email password stays the default.

Returning Students

Blackboard Username

Your Blackboard username is your RBC Student Email ID without @rbc.edu.

Returning Students will be able to access their student email accounts and Blackboard using the RBC Student Email ID that they were assigned when they first started at RBC.  Typically this is your first initial followed by middle initial followed by the first four letters of your last name.  Please note:  If you do not have a middle initial then it will be substituted with an 'x'. (ex: Mary Janosky = mxjano)  Also, if your last name is only three characters long then an 'x' will be placed at the end for the fourth character. (ex: Mary E. Jan = mejanx)

Password

• I don't know my RBC Student Email ID.  How can I find out what it is?

• Who do I contact if I cannot log in?
  Your professor is your first point of contact.  They can confirm your RBC Student Email ID and reset your password if needed.  For critical/technical issues, please see the Support Page: http://www.rbc.edu/ITS/Blackboard/Support.htm.
   
• Can I change my password?
  Yes, you can.  Remember that passwords should be at least 8 characters long, mixing letters with digits.  Do not use a password that will identify you, i.e. your parents name, your pet’s name or your favorite sport, etc.  On the My Institution tab under Tools, click on Personal Information.  There you will see a list of items, click on Change Password.

• I changed my password and I cannot log back in.  What do I do?
  You will need to click the Forgot Password? link on the Bb login page (underneath where you enter your username and password).  Enter your information in either #1 or #2 and an email will be sent to your RBC Student Email Account.  Note: The fields on the Lost Password page are not case-sensitive.  If you do not receive the email: your email inbox may be full - please see the following page: http://www.rbc.edu/ITS/Email/delemail.htm.

• I entered all the required fields on the Lost Password page but it gave me an error.  What should I do?
  You may be entering the wrong information in the fields- remember to enter your legal first name.  Please see the information listed above for your username and email address.  Note: The fields on the page are not case-sensitive.
