NARRATIVE

Richard Bland College of The College of William and Mary was established by an Act of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia to be a division of The College of William and Mary by amendment to the Code of Virginia, approved February 22, 1960.

Richard Bland College opened for enrollment in September of 1961. RBC is managed and governed by the Board of Visitors of The College of William and Mary which has the authority to grant degrees in accordance with Statute 23-46, Title 23, Chapter 5, of the Code of Virginia.

A brief history of RBC is published on pages 24-25 of the 2006-2008 RBC College Catalog and also on the College website.
