About the Process
Richard Bland College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award the associate degree. Accreditation is the method by which the higher education community regulates itself; it provides for public confidence, institutional effectiveness, and the maintenance of standards. The transfer of credits among accredited schools is one of the benefits of this system for students. Every ten years, each college undergoes an accreditation review process. RBC is now in the first phase of its work for renewal of accreditation in 2009.
