Admitted Student Checklist

Congratulations on your acceptance to Richard Bland College of William & Mary! We are excited about having you join the RBC community.

Below are your next steps for enrollment and registration. Please complete them as soon as possible.

  • Complete the Enrollment Intent Form and pay the enrollment deposit

  • Complete your Virginia In-State Tuition (VIT) form

    • VIT Form – PART A (Student Fills Out)  VIT Form – PART B (Parent Must Fill Out)

      A confirmation email will be sent upon review of the VIT form and if any further documentation is needed, you will be notified at that time.

      Complete your Virginia In-State Tuition (VIT) Form

  • Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

  • Submit your housing application and consider a meal plan

    • Thank you for choosing to live on campus at Richard Bland College of William & Mary! Please complete the Housing Application. The priority deadline for students outside of 30 miles from RBC is May 31. After the priority deadline RBC staff will assign housing on a first-come, first-served basis. All residential students are required to enroll in a meal plan option.

      COMMUTER STUDENTS: Meal plans are also available for commuter students—save time and money by purchasing a meal plan in advance. If you wish to purchase a meal plan, commuter students only may contact the Office of Student Accounts, (804) 862-9802.


  • Placement Assessment & Advising Appointment

    • Most First-Year students are required to take placement assessments.
      Exceptions to the placement test requirement include:

      • MATH – if you have RBC or transferred college Math credits (DE, AP, CLEP, IB)
      • ENGLISH – if you have RBC or transfer college English credits (DE, AP, IB, CLEP, or scores of 500 or higher on SAT Verbal or 18 or higher on ACT English).

      *It is your responsibility to request the transcript from the institution who provided your college credit to be sent to RBC Admissions for processing

      Before coming to your scheduled Math/English Placement Assessment:       


      1. Complete the practice ALEKS Math assessment at home prior to coming in for the proctored assessment
      2. Complete up to 3 hours in the Prep & Learning modules to improve your chances of entering a college level Math course: Score 39 & higher = college credit Math course
      3. Save login and password for ALEKS and bring to proctored assessment


      1. The proctored English assessment entails reading one of four articles and writing an essay about the article.
      2. Brush up on your English competencies in: summarizing, organization, development, and grammar.
