Richard Bland College
Club Sports Information
Purpose
The club sport program at Richard Bland College (RBC) is designed to provide students with a common interest in a sport the opportunity to form a team. Club sports are student initiated teams that practice, and compete against other club teams, usually from other colleges and universities. Club sports emphasize leadership, participation and teamwork.
Eligibility
Students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours, and in good standing, are eligible to participate on a club team. After one semester of participation, the club member must have and maintain a 2.0 grade point average to continue their eligibility. Each club is responsible for determining if the number of members needs to be limited.
Conduct
Each club sport member is considered a representative of RBC and must conduct themselves a disciplined and mature manner. Any club sport team and member may face disciplinary action for any behavior deemed inappropriate by the college.
Insurance
All club team members are encouraged to have a physical exam, and must provide their own health insurance. All members are required to sign a release and waiver of responsibility form before participating.
Forming a Club Team
Students interested in forming a club team should contact the Director of Athletic Programs and Facilities, in Statesman Hall, Office 104. A meeting will be set-up to discuss the club sport application form, which includes team information, equipment and facility needs, coaching needs, practice and game schedules, and funding. After the meeting, the school administration will decide whether the club sport is suitable for RBC.
Equipment and Facilities
The Director will work with each club team to help provide equipment and facilities. All equipment provided by RBC will remain the property of the college. If RBC cannot provide a facility, the college will help the team in finding a proper facility for the team's practice and game needs.
Meals
Club sport team members are responsible for all meal expenses.
Fundraising
Club teams are permitted to sponsor fundraising projects. All fundraising must be coordinated with and follow the guidelines of the RBC Office of Advancement.
