Federal Pell Grant (FPELL) - A federal need-based grant. Eligibility is determined directly by the U.S. Department of Education. The amount of the grant is based on the cost of attendance and the number of hours enrolled. Awards range from $400 to $4,731.
Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) - A federal need based grant. A student must be Pell eligible, a U.S. citizen, have completed a rigorous high school program of study after January 1, 2006 if a first year student or have completed a rigorous high school program of study after January 1, 2005 if a second year student, and register for a full-time course load (12 or more credits) and in a degree-seeking program. A first-year student may receive up to $750 per academic year. Second-year students must also have attained at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average in their first year of undergraduate education.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) - A federal need-based grant to assist students with exceptional financial need. Priority is given to Pell grant recipients. At least half-time enrollment is required. Awards range from $400 to $2,000.
Commonwealth Award - A state funded need-based discretionary aid program for Virginia residents who enroll at least half-time. Awards range from $500 to $2,644.
Virginia Guaranteed Assistance Program (VGAP) - A state funded program for first-time dependent Virginia residents with exceptional need. Students must have maintained a 2.50 cumulative grade point average. Full-time enrollment is required. Awards range from $600 to $2,844 and may be renewable.
College Scholarship Assistance Grant (CSAP) - A state funded need-based program for Virginia residents with exceptional need. At least half-time enrollment is required. Awards range from $400 to $2,644.
Higher Education Teacher Assistance Program (HETAP) - A state funded need-based program for Virginia residents with financial need. Students must enroll and intend to enroll into an eligible K-12 teacher preparation program. Awards range from $500 to $1,000.
