Renovating for the Future! Honoring Colonel Carson @ your library®

Dr. Virginia Cherry

Dr. Cherry holds a copy of the recently published  Dictionary of Virginia Biography, Volume 3 (Caperton-Daniels) which includes the biography of Colonel James M. Carson, First President of Richard Bland College.  The biography was written by Library Director, Dr. Virginia Cherry .  This personalized and signed copy will be presented to  Colonel Carson’s son, Colonel Jim Carson.

Dr. Cherry attended the book talk  at the Library of Virginia on July 18, 2006: “The Facts of Life: Creating a Biographical Reference Work of Notable Virginians.”

Editors of the Dictionary of Virginia Biography discussed the research strategies and creative use of sources required to create this multivolume reference work, which provides biographies of Virginians who made significant contributions to the history or culture of their locality, state, or nation.  The recently released third volume of the Dictionary of Virginia Biography presents biographies ranging alphabetically from Allen Taylor Caperton, a member of the Convention of 1850-1851, the Convention of 1861, and the Confederate States Senate, through Edward Dwight Daniels, a Fairfax County agrarian reformer.
