Paul Penrod

Art exhibit will be held in the RBC Library through December 10th.
Artist Biography
Petersburg resident Paul Penrod, whose art incorporates various combinations of pencil, ink and color pencil, is a special education teacher with Prince George County Public Schools. He has a BFA in Studio Art & Print Making as well as a BA in Art History from New Mexico State University. He received his MEd from North Georgia College.
The artist began his love affair with the City of Petersburg when he came to the Tri-Cities for summer seasonal employment with the National Park Service. He still volunteers with Petersburg National Battlefield. Works such as The Dictator, Southside Railroad Station, and Town of Petersburg (So oft have I invoked thee for my muse) prominently feature Petersburg history and landmarks.

Penrod's lifelong study of history and his fascination with architecture, especially old houses, is reflected in his art. The artist explains, “My art has been influenced by a variety of sources. They include the detail and color of Medieval manuscripts and Celtic designs, and from living in the American Southwest, the power and style of the Mexican mural painters. My training as a print maker also had a strong impact on my technique. I am at heart a storyteller, and most of my work is a narrative of connected episodes.”
