Architects at the Lukmire Partnership are in the process of developing designs for a 2-story library complete with a library classroom, study rooms, special collections rooms, two entrance ways, and computer lab.

Update! During the interim while the existing library is being renovated, the library staff and a limited number of library resources will be relocated to the Library Annex (currently the dance studio in Statesman Hall). Relocation to the Library Annex will take effect in May 2006. In addition to library staff, the Library Annex will have reserve materials, DVD disks (not the display cases), a limited number of books which will be selected on the basis of recurring research assignments, and current periodicals. Librarians will try to make themselves available in campus computer labs to assist students with research. Interlibrary Loan services will be available so that we may order books and articles from other libraries.

Timeline

Funding for the renovation was originally obtained in 2002 when the Virginia General Assembly approved a bond package for educational facility capital projects.
