David Baldacci was introduced at the luncheon by Charles W. Sydnor, Jr. Charles W. Sydnor, Jr., Ph.D., is president and CEO of Commonwealth Public Broadcasting Corporation, a position he has held since 1992. He is host of the locally produced, nationally distributed, public affairs series “For The Record.” Sydnor served as president of Emory & Henry College for eight years. He is a former college professor and speechwriter for former Gov. Charles S. Robb. Dr. Sydnor also serves on the Board of Directors of The Library of Virginia Foundation.

The Page Turner Society is a group dedicated to supporting the Annual Library of Virginia Awards Celebration. The Richard Bland College Library Director Dr. Virginia Cherry, along with her husband Dr. Robert Cherry, are members of the The Page Turner Society. As a "Page Turner," Dr. Cherry met with the author and obtained a signed copy of David Baldacci's children's book Fries Alive! for the library.
