In 2006, The Friends of the RBC Library "Adopt a Highway" — Johnson Road between the intersections of Flank Road and Ravenscroft Drive.

The Friends will recruit volunteers to clean the road throughout the year. Application and initial arrangements with VDOT (Virginia Department of Transportation) were completed by Dr. Virginia Cherry, Library Director.
