What are eBooks?
eBooks are either electronic versions of print books or they may originate in digital form.  Like print books, the text found in eBooks is often enriched with photos, illustrations, graphs and tables.  Unlike print books, eBooks are searchable by keyword.
What are netLibrary and SOLINET?
netLibrary, a division of OCLC, acquires electronic distribution rights to books and then makes them available to users.  SOLINET (Southeastern Library Network) has made over 50,000 of the netLibrary eBooks available to Richard Bland College Library as a shared collection.
How do I access these eBooks?
Through LION, the library online catalog, or by going directly to netLibrary.  A netLibrary link is found on the library home page.
How do I set up an account?
1.  Go to netLibrary through the home page link or go directly to www.netlibrary.com.  2.  Select "Create Account".  3.  Enter your identification information.  4.  Click submit.  You will use this name and password every time you go to netLibrary.
Can I access netLibrary from home?
Yes. First, you will have to log in just as you do for the VIVA databases. Use your RBC email username and password for the login.
How do I search for an eBook?
In netLibrary you can do a quick search or a power search.  The power search will allow you to do a more precise search.  After entering your search terms click "go" or "search."  The search results will be displayed. 
How do I check out an eBook?
1.  Search for the book. 2.  Select the eBook title from your search. 3.  Select the "View this eBook" link. 
How long is the check out period?
You may check out a book for four hours.  At the end of this time the book will automatically be returned.  If no one else is waiting to use it you may check it out again.
Can I print an eBook?
You will be able to print single pages of an eBook.  Printing an entire book is a violation of copyright law.
How do I access an eBook that I find in LION?
1.  Click on View record.  2.  Click on the "electronic access" link beneath the title. 3.  Select the "View this eBook" link. 
Can I look for only eBooks when I do a LION search?
Yes.  Choose advanced search.  Under search limits— item type, choose eBooks.
What types of books are included? Most are up-to-date scholarly works in a wide variety of subjects.
