Celebrate the 225th birthday of the U.S. Constitution!

After months of debate, the final draft of the Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787.

The Richard Bland College Library and Student Activities office co-sponsored a Constitution Day Essay Contest in celebration of Constitution Day on September 17th. Every year, according to federal law, each educational institution which receives federal funds should hold a program about the Constitution for students.

Writing on the topic of "Why the Constitution is Important to Me", RBC students were invited to submit single-page essays that were judged by three RBC faculty members—Christine Anderson in History, Angela Burcham in Biology, and Dan Ream from the RBC Library. Essay award winners selected were:
