The Friends of the Library has invited local Petersburg author Jeff Abugel to speak on his new book entitled Edgar Allan Poe's Petersburg: The Untold Story of the Raven in the Cockade City.

In addition to his long career as a writer (with hundreds of magazine articles and several previous books to his credit), Mr. Abugel and his wife run Hiram Haines Coffee and Ale House located at 12 West Bank St. in Old Towne Petersburg. He and his wife began renovating this coffee house several years ago, which was a gathering place for poets, journalists, and intellectuals of the region in the 1830s and is where Edgar Allan Poe spent his honeymoon in 1836.
