How does the Graduate Books program work?
In a nutshell...

  • A minimum donation of $30 is made to the library by a loved one or friend of a graduating student.
  • The library staff orders a book in honor of the graduate.
  • A book plate is added to the book noting the name of the graduate, the name(s) of the donor(s), and the year of graduation from RBC.
  • The special RBC graduate receives honorable mention in LION (the RBC Library catalog) and on the library website!
  • As a special bonus for the graduating class of 2006, the RBC graduate whose friends/family have made a donation to the library may stop by to pick up a complimentary copy of a Parks Duffey print of the campus from the Friends of the RBC Library.

What is a Parks Duffey print of the campus?

In February of 2001 The Friends of the Richard Bland College Library commissioned Parks Pegram Duffey III to paint the Richard Bland College campus.  For eight months Mr. Duffey visited the campus, solicited input from faculty and staff, and worked on a canvas that evolved into a painting that includes architectural renderings of buildings, whimsical remembrances of people and events, and an overall lovely depiction of the campus.
