In Spring 2012, Dr. Amy Beumer's Microbiology class (BIO 211) performed a handwashing experiment to determine the effectiveness of hand scrubbing. When the students saw that there was more bacteria on their hands AFTER washing than before, they realized that the bacteria must have come from the water. They then performed experiments to try to identify a few of the bacterial isolates.
