April 2011
Rotaract Rebuilds Together @ your library®
Rebuilding Together*Petersburg is a nonprofit organization that provides volunteer home rehabilitation, providing repairs and modifications free of charge to homeowners in need. They install grab bars, sturdy railings, ramps, and oher modifications to allow home owners to "age in place." Volunteer teams also revitalize community centers and perform a neighborhood clean up. A new program called "Heroes at Home" provides home repairs and modifications to low-income active duty or retired U.S. service members and military families.
Rotaract Students participated in this program on April 9, 2011. Barbara Mait, Executive Director (shown above), spoke to Rotaract members prior to the workday.
