Library Director Dr. Virginia Cherry invited Virginia author Dean King to serve as guest speaker of The Rotary Club of Petersburg on April 29.
King is the award-winning and best-selling author of ten non-fiction books, including Skeletons on the Zahara, which aired as a two-hour special documentary on the History Channel and is currently being developed as a feature film in London. Skeletons is also the winner of the Library of Virginia People’s Choice Award. King has appeared on ABC World News Tonight with Peter Jennings, National Public Radio and the BBC documentary Close up: Patrick O’Brian.

Dr. Cherry donated a signed copy of King's latest work—Unbound: A True Story of War, Love, and Survival—to the RBC Library.
