Biography

Glin D. Casey (1914-2004) contributed many works of art to the Richard Bland College Library.

A native of Oklahoma, he was the son of the late John F. and Mary S. Casey. Mr. Casey served his country with the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Highland University and attended the popular Art Students League and completed his master's at Columbia University. Later, he taught at RPI (now VCU) and then was crafts director while at Fort Lee.

He was a well known sculptor and artist having received many awards for his work at art shows across the country. His works can be seen today locally in Petersburg, in Colonial Heights and at the Richard Bland College Library, as well as in Texas, New Mexico and New Jersey. He was an avid sports fan too, often speaking about the most memorable game of his life when his college basketball team "the Cowboys" beat "the Globetrotters." Mr. Casey participated in the Senior Games until last year; he won many medals end encouraged laughter and sportsmanship.
