Mr. Clifton Leon Walker, affectionately known to his family and friends as “Cliff,” of 12421 Duncan Road, Petersburg, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 28, 2007. He was born June 28, 1951, to the late Flossie Chatman and Robert Walker. He was a member of Gravel Run Baptist Church in Dinwiddie County. Clifton was preceded in death by five brothers, Mack Walker and Joe Walker, Jesse Walker, James Earl Walker, Louis Walker; and two sisters, Mary Parker and Susie Coleman.
He was a very faithful worker for Richard Bland College for 30 years in various jobs, including housekeeping, building and grounds, and supervisor of maintenance. Cliff was definitely a master at his trade of carpentry.
He leaves to cherish his loving wife of 31 years, Carolyn Walker; and his children, Fontellia Browder Yates (Gregory), Gloria Browder-Parham (Dennis), Lunita Browder, Robert Browder Jr. and Kathy Clanton; three sisters, Effie Ballard (Willie) of Philadelphia, Mildred Myrick (Dozier) and Flossie Lewis (Richard) of Petersburg; three devoted sisters-in-law, Frances Walker of Dinwiddie, Angie Walker and Charlene Walker, both of Petersburg; great-aunt, Ada Cohn of California; many devoted nieces and nephews, especially Deborah Raines, Vanessa Walker, Karen Lewis, Nita Walker, Joyce Ann Walker, Milton Coleman and Terrance Walker; godchildren, to include Dikita Walker, Tonise Tucker, Sherry Lewis, Latisha Browder, Terri Tucker and Dion Coleman; 11 grandchildren, Desmane, Jazmine, Ashley, Montrell, Taliah, Talayha, Amani, DeShawn, DeAdre, Shandreka and Michelle, whom were all a special part of his heart.
Clifton was definitely loved by all of family, friends and co-Workers at Richard Bland College. Special thanks to Dr. Gandhi, John Randolph Hospital, staff of Richard Bland College and Crater Hospice.
A homegoing service will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at the Gravel Run Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, with the pastor, the Rev. Larry D. Brown Sr., officiating, and the Rev. Pinky Hill eulogizing. Burial will follow at the Dinwiddie Memorial Park. The family may be contacted at the residence, (804) 732-8425.
Public viewing will be held on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at the Shirley P. Johnson Funeral Home, 451 Halifax St., Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
