Dr. James B. McNeer, President

Welcome to Richard Bland College of The
College of William and Mary in Virginia.
Dr. James B. McNeer, President

We are the Commonwealth's only public junior college and our sole mission is to prepare students for transfer to both public and private colleges and universities throughout the country. As a state-supported institution of higher education, we are governed by the Board of Visitors of The College of William and Mary.

The College's enrollment of over 1,600 full and part-time students is indicative of the confidence expressed by the traditional student, the adult learner, and the general public in the quality of instruction offered by our outstanding faculty.

Richard Bland College offers many challenging courses and programs that will provide you with a foundation in the liberal arts, science, and business as you begin or continue your pursuit of higher education. By attending Richard Bland College and completing the Associate Degree, you will have completed the first two years toward the Bachelor's Degree. We have transfer agreements with colleges and universities across the Commonwealth which will enhance your educational opportunities. Our students do well when they transfer and I encourage you to explore all these career and educational options with us.

Conveniently located on a 712 acre campus between Interstates 85 and 95 just south of Petersburg, Virginia, the College faculty and staff asks that you consider the advantages of attending our institution. Please contact us for a personal tour and consultation (804.862.6249).

Within the past year, we have opened our new 52,000 square foot Science and Technology Center which includes state-of-the-art biology, chemistry, physics, and computer science laboratories. The outdoor recreation complex will begin operation in the fall 2011, and will include tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts, a softball field, and a pavilion area.

With all of these positive changes, I want to insure all those at the College that we will continue to emphasize those core liberal arts values that have enabled our graduates to be so successful in their chosen field of endeavor. We have a caring and exceptionally qualified faculty and an administration and staff who place students first.
