"So far I have had a good experience with all of the professors I have encountered while attending Richard Bland College. As a student I have very high expectations for my professors. I expect to have the best experience in college when comes to my education. My grades are important to me and I know that I have to work hard and be focused on my studies, but I also realize that my professors have a big part in whether I succeed in my classes or not. With my effort and the help of my professors, I believe that I could go very far at Richard Bland College." --Ashley W., Second-Year Student and President of the Student Assembly |

"Some of the expectations that I have for myself this year are to stay on track and keep myself together. What I mean by this is that I am determined to attend every class on my schedule, and do not wish to be absent unless I am extremely sick. I want to meet new people, while staying focused and finding the right students to become my friends. I have to continue to focus on completing my homework, and not procrastinate until the last minute to finish my assignments because students who procrastinate may not submit their best work. Some of the expectations that I have for my professors are that they remain interesting. In other words, they need to be able to hold my attention and to keep all students engaged. A professor who just stands in the same spot of the classroom the entire time speaking in one tone may not be as interesting as those who allow students to interact with each other and talk about what they have learned in the course." --Alyssa B., First-Year Student |

"My expectations are irrelevant when directed from someone else’s mindset. In response to the God-given gift of ambition, I rely on my determination, with help from my mentors, teachers, and family I’ve met along the way. As far as expectations of myself, whether it be failure to you, or perfection based on my undying attempt to change the world. My expectations, like a debate based off unsatisfying opinions, are endless." --Charles B., First-Year Student |

"As students at Richard Bland College, we have expectations to follow such as being respectful to one another, always arriving to class on time and striving for excellence in our studies. I believe that these expectations describe a lot of students, including myself. Although, when it comes to asking myself what is my expectations as a student at Richard Bland College, I would say education comes first, we should always seek to achieve for a higher academic status. Also, get involved around the campus and the community. By studying and taking school seriously, you can grow and learn from it because at the end of the day you chose to go to school to get a career, and it is going to be worth it. Participating around the campus and the community is fun, and it also can help you get into a great university."--Michelle E., Second-Year Student, V.P. Student Assembly |

"The expectations that I have for myself is to stay motivated and determined. I also wish to work through all obstacles and maintain a positive mindset. Moreover, I wish to try my best at everything that I do and to stay humble. The expectation that I would want my professors to have of me is that I work to my fullest potential and give them my undivided attention, since they are here to help me. I am also here to help them as they help me learn new concepts in class." –Josh O., Continuing Student, Student Affairs Work-study Student |
