Thirteen students from Richard Bland College of William & Mary were recently inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society for academic achievement, joining 35 RBC students in the organization. Students who earned a 3.5 grade point average or higher during the academic year earned membership into the Alpha Beta Omicron Chapter of PTK, which specifically honors Richard Bland students.

The students inducted include: Darianne Addington (Chesterfield), Amber Ange (Chester), George Barnes (Colonial Heights), Rodrigo Carvalho (Lisboa Oeiras, Portugal), Tulio Graciano Da Silva Santos (Brazil), Isaiah Lucas (Newport News), Savannah Porter (Midlothian), Grace Rudser (Prince George), J’onte Smith (Williamsburg), Sarah Smith (Petersburg), David Snyder (Spotsylvania), Kamerson Sullivan (Prince George), Sophia Wischewski (Henrico) and Kayla Zanders (Virginia Beach).

“Induction into PTK is a well-deserved honor and recognition for students who have achieved academic excellence,” said Aimee Joyaux, PTK Advisor at Richard Bland College. “We applaud these outstanding students for finishing their two years at RBC with such a distinguished honor.”

Established by Missouri two-year college presidents in 1918, Phil Theta Kappa International Honors Society serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievements of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honors leadership and service programming. Today, Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 1.3 million members and 1,200 chapters located in 50 states, U.S. territories, Canada and Germany. Since 1929 it has been recognized as the official honor society for two-year colleges.
