Bio:
Dr. Bob Stowers earned his B.A. in English and his M.Ed. in Counseling from American International College and his doctorate from Rutgers University on strategies for writing assessment and improvement.
After retiring after 25 years as a Clinical Associate Professor of Management and Leadership Communications at the Mason School of Business of The College f William and Mary teaching communication courses for full-time, part-time, and executive students, Bob spent the past year as a Visiting Professor of Strategic Communications at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He has taught previously at the University of Akron and Kent State University in Ohio. He has taught at Richard Bland College of William and Mary since the fall of 2021.
Teaching previously at Kent State University and the University of Akron, he has consulted with NASA, the Virginia Beach Public Schools, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Riverside Health Systems, the Virginia Water Environment Association, and the Medical Society of Virginia.
Bob has published widely in academic and professional journals. He has diverse research interests and has conducted research into leadership styles and techniques, writing improvement, effective presentation skills, teaching strategies, and the coaching and mentoring processes. He writes a regular column for Inside Business on topics related to personal and organizational communication.
He published a fictionalized novel based on a real-life crisis. The book is titled Lost in a Cornfield: Never Losing Faith. The book suggests strategies to overcome significant personal or professional challenges. It first appeared in print in June 2015.
