Weddings In the Grove
Richard Bland College is the perfect venue for a wedding. Home to 750 picturesque acres, the College offers multiple sites on campus to host the bride and groom’s special day.
The first site is the vast grove of pecan trees. RBC is home to the oldest and largest pecan grove in Virginia that provides the ideal space for everything from pictures to the ceremony. Not far from the record-setting grove is a refreshing water garden. This Asian water garden boasts a magical setting adorned with beautiful seasonal flowers, pristine landscaping, and bridges that provide a spectacular aesthetic to accommodate various wedding entrances and ceremonies.
The College also features a beautiful gazebo that is situated on ample grounds necessary for seating, receptions, photos, and more. In addition to its beauty, an 1800’s Farmhouse with an overlooking porch frames the gazebo.
Lastly, the College’s showcase building, The Barn Theater, has a rustic, warm, and overall cozy feel. It provides all the amenities needed to host a reception. The inside features beautiful chandelier lighting and generous seating arrangements, and a spacious outside parking lot can accommodate guests as well. The Barn Theater also features a newly renovated bridal suite to prepare for the special day.
The Barn accommodate up to 80-120 people based on seating.

Athletics
Richard Bland College offers two main venues for rent: Statesman Hall and Statesman Softball Field.
Statesman Hall features a hardwood court, refurbished in 2014 and has a 822 person seating capacity. It houses a regulation-size basketball court and a total of six baskets that serve as a perfect accommodation for individual instruction and competition games. Besides basketball, Statesman Hall can be converted for volleyball and indoor soccer play. Additional amenities include several locker room, and shower areas, a weight and cardio room, an athletic training room, and a meeting room.
Statesman Softball Field includes the necessities for a safe and fun experience: fences, backstop, dugouts, bullpens, a batting cage, and a scoreboard. The field dimensions are 200 feet down the left and right-field lines, and 225 feet to straight-away center field.
Facilities
McNeer Hall and the Ernst Hall offer classroom space that can accommodate anywhere from 20 to 60 people for meetings and lectures. Smart boards, whiteboards, and projection screens are available in most spaces. Ernst Auditorium offers a 208-seat space that is also wheelchair accessible. The Auditorium can be used for lectures, seminars, panel discussions, presentation, and screenings.
Through RBC Catering Services, both McNeer Hall and Ernst Hall can host receptions or breakfast and boxed lunch.
The historic Barn Theater is another multi-dimensional facility that can be used for dinners, meetings, dances, performances, and receptions. Seating ranges from 80 to 120 people based on seating arrangement.
Summer Camps
Richard Bland College has a spacious campus, and various rental options that allow for a personalized summer camp experience for any group. Included in the summer camp package are:
- Residential village (living spaces)
- Academic buildings
- Athletics facilities
- The Barn Theater
- And many outdoor spaces such as the Pecan Grove.
In addition, off-campus activities and volunteer opportunities can be coordinated in advance.
Our residential village includes apartment-style living and traditional style living.
In Patriot and Freedom Hall, apartment style living spaces include:
- Furnished bedroom with bed, dresser, and closet
- Large, furnished living room with couch, table, and chairs
- Fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, oven, and microwave
- Bathroom(s)
- Washer and dryer
- Secured access
- On-site parking
- Access to internet and cable television
- Computer labs
The apartment style living spaces in Patriot and Freedom Hall feature two party single apartments, three party single apartments, four party single apartments, and eight party double room options.
The traditional style living space includes:
- Furnished bedroom with bed, dresser, and closet
- Community bathroom
- Community washer and dryer
- Secured access
- On-site parking
- Access to internet and cable television
- Computer labs
- Single, double, and triple options
The College has housed camps for three days, a week, a month, or longer.
The academic buildings are also open to summer camp use upon request. These include the Ernst Hall and McNeer Hall. Such buildings have classroom spaces to accommodate group activities and hold classes and lectures. White boards, smart boards, and projection screens are available in most rooms, which provide sufficient educational and display purposes
