Admitted Student Checklist

Congratulations on your acceptance to Richard Bland College of William & Mary! We are excited about having you join the RBC community.

Below are your next steps for enrollment and registration. Please complete them as soon as possible.

  • Complete the Enrollment Intent Form and pay the enrollment deposit

  • Complete your Virginia In-State Tuition (VIT) form

    • VIT Form – PART A (Student Fills Out)  VIT Form – PART B (Parent Must Fill Out)

      A confirmation email will be sent upon review of the VIT form and if any further documentation is needed, you will be notified at that time.

      Complete your Virginia In-State Tuition (VIT) Form

  • Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

  • Setting Up Your Student Login Accounts

    • Please follow the instructions below to log in to the four RBC Student Accounts (before your Placement Assessment date).  If you have questions or problems logging in to any of the accounts, please contact STAC Help Desk at (804)862-6401 or email STAC@rbc.edu.

      • Login to Banner
      • Login and register for Statesman Account Management (SAM)
      • Login to Statesman Email
      • Login to Canvas
      • Complete the Canvas Orientation course

      BANNER

        1. Click here to go to Banner. The link can also be found by going to www.rbc.edu  and clicking the Info For arrow
        2. Enter your User ID which is your Student ID R# (use capital R)
        3. Enter your Pin number which is your 6 digit Date of Birth (mmddyy)
        4. View your RBC email:  Main Menu > Student > Personal Information tab > View Email Address

      STATESMAN ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT (SAM)

      1. Open your preferred web browser and go to https://hub.rbc.edu
      2. Enter your User Name and Password and click Log In
      3. User Name is your RBC email address (without @rbc.edu)
      4. Password is your Student ID number plus ! plus lowercase first letter of last name
      5. Ex: Richard Bland’s password would be R000000!b
      6. Follow the prompts to register for SAM. Use the arrows to navigate through the registration:
      7. Enter your Student ID number (starts with R)
      8. Answer at least 5 of the 10 security questions
      9. Once you have answered at least five questions or more, click Continue.
      10. The registration is complete and the SAM homepage appears. Change your password to something else at this time by clicking Change Now.
      11. NOTE: Any time you change your password in SAM, it will change your password for both Canvas and Statesman Mail.

      STATESMAN MAIL

      Email for campus communications

      1. Open your preferred web browser and go to rbc.edu. Click on Info For
      2. Click on the Statesman Mail link under Current Statesman
      3. Enter your User Name and Password and click Sign In
      4. NOTE: Your User Name and Password are the same credentials you use to log in to SAM. When you changed your password after registering in SAM that became your new password.

      CANVAS

      1. Open your preferred web browser and go to rbc.edu. Click on Info For
      2. Click on the Canvas link under Current Statesmanyou will be redirected to the SAM Login page.
      3. Enter your User Name and Password and click Sign In
        • NOTE: Your User Name and Password are the same credentials you use to log in to SAM. When you changed your password after registering in SAM that became your new password.
      4. Click on Courses. You will see a course listed called Canvas Orientation.
      5. Click on Canvas Orientation. Follow the prompts to complete the Canvas Orientation course and familiarize yourself with Canvas.
      6. If you have a problem after logging in, use the Help menu (bottom left corner).
  • Submit your housing application and consider a meal plan

    • Thank you for choosing to live on campus at Richard Bland College of William & Mary! Please login into your MyHousing Self Service to complete the Housing Application. You will need your RBC user name and password. Use the instructions below to set up your account to access MyHousing Self Service. After the priority deadline, RBC staff will assign housing on a first-come, first served basis. All residential students are required to enroll in a meal plan option. Please click and review the below pdf forms below on the process for housing:

      COMMUTER STUDENTS: Meal plans are also available for commuter students—save time and money by purchasing a meal plan in advance. If you wish to purchase a meal plan, commuter students only may contact the Office of Student Accounts, (804) 862-9802.

  • Placement Testing

      • Most First Year Freshman students are required to take Math & English Placement tests
      • Prior to testing you need to login to your Student Accounts.  Please verify your accounts by following the steps at Account Setup.
      • Both the Math & English Placement tests will be taken on campus (2nd floor of Library) on your registration date (link below). Allow three hours to complete both
      • If there are extenuating circumstances  that prohibit on-campus testing (i.e. travel), call the Testing Office: (804) 862-6100 ext 8526, 8558, or 6235

      ALEKS MATH – Before Testing Date:

      • Take the ALEKS Practice test first (link below & save your ALEKS login info). Afterwards, you will be prompted to review/practice problems in the ALEKS PPL Module.  At least 3 hours of review are highly recommended for potential score improvement (can be done in short term intervals)
      • An ALEKS score of 39↑ will place you in a college credit math. A score of 38↓ places you into a developmental math course, without college credit
      • The calculator on the computer screen is the only one permitted for placement testing

      ENGLISH – Before Testing Date:

      • Be sure to login to Canvas prior to attending your official testing session
      • The English test involves reading an article and typing a one page essay based on a two part question.

      • If you do not have college level Math/English courses with grades of C or better completed/transferred in, please follow above steps to register for testing
      • If you completed college level Math/English with grades of C or higher & transcripts have been sent in, call the Testing Office for registration assistance: (804) 862-6100 ext 8526, 8558, or 6235
