BENEFITS of NEXT STEP VCU
Initial Eligibility

Hold a high school diploma or GED
-
Attend Richard Bland College
-
Earn a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA on the first 12 credits attempted at RBC
-
Enroll in an eligible associate degree program (see transfer pathways above)

Have completed no more than 30 college credits at RBC*
*The 30-credit limit does not include AP, IB, CLEP, or any other earned credit by exam. High school dual enrollment credit and credit earned at other U.S. or international colleges or universities will apply to the 30-credit limit.
Ongoing Requirements

Maintain grades of A, B, or C in all community college courses

Meet with RBC and VCU advisors at least once per semester

Attend at least one VCU information session or community-building activity per semester

Graduate from RBC with the designated associate degree

Have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at time of graduation from RBC

Apply for graduation by published deadlines

Provide two official RBC transcripts to VCU Admissions
