Terelle L. Robinson (‘15), now former head of Government Relations at the College, has been selected to serve as Chief of Staff to The Honorable Luke E. Torian (D-24). Delegate Torian serves as Chair of the Virginia House Appropriations Committee, a position that holds significant influence in the Virginia General Assembly. As Chief of Staff, Robinson will advise on policy, budget priorities and legislative strategy.
“Terelle Robinson is the latest in a long line of Richard Bland alumni who have served in state government, including former Speaker of the House Kirk Cox,” said Dr. Debbie L. Sydow, President of Richard Bland College. “Terelle graduated with honors from William & Mary after transferring from Richard Bland and we are proud that a person of his talent, character and integrity will continue in service to the Commonwealth.
“Terelle’s academic and career trajectory speak to the transformative opportunities that begin at Richard Bland College.”
A native of Ashland, Virginia and a first-generation college graduate, Robinson began his higher education journey at RBC before transferring to William & Mary, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He later returned to Richard Bland College, where he served as Associate Director of Government Relations for four years. Here, he contributed to the College’s legislative strategy, student engagement efforts and community partnerships.
Robinson’s career in public service includes experience in the Office of the Mayor of Richmond, where he supported key initiatives and community engagement efforts. His work has consistently reflected a commitment to expanding opportunity, strengthening communities and bridging connections between government and its constituents.
“For me, this opportunity with the General Assembly reflects the impact Richard Bland College can have on a student’s trajectory,” Robinson said. “RBC provided the foundation, support and opportunity that made this path possible.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity and proud of the path that led me here. I look forward to continuing to serve the Commonwealth with purpose.”
Richard Bland College continues to serve as a vital access point to higher education, empowering students from across the region to pursue academic excellence and meaningful careers. Robinson’s selection is a powerful example of how the College’s mission translates into leadership opportunities at the highest levels.
