William & Mary Board of Visitors to Consider Tuition Adjustment for Richard Bland College
Section 23.1-307 (D) of the Code of Virginia requires that 30 days prior to approval of each year’s tuition and mandatory fees the Boards of Visitors of Virginia’s higher education institutions announce the range of increase under consideration and the proposed use of any incremental revenue.
The William & Mary Board of Visitors intends to set Richard Bland College (RBC) tuition and fees for the 2018/2019 academic year at its meeting on April 18-20.
For incoming and continuing in-state students, the Board will consider increases up to 9.8% in tuition and fees (mandatory and non-mandatory) as outlined in the RBC Six-Year (2018-2024) Plan approved by the Board and the State Council of Higher Education in Virginia. A tuition increase of up to 3% for out-of-state students will also be set by the Board.
Revenue generated from a tuition and fee increase, in combination with other revenues and reallocated funds, will be used to address need-based financial aid; continuing investment in initiatives to increase student retention, graduation and success; and mandatory cost increases, including the College’s share of state salary and fringe benefits changes. Non-mandatory fee resources will address increasing demand for counseling services, safety, security, and career/transfer support. Exact uses will be determined, in part, by budget actions taken by the Governor and General Assembly during the 2018 special session.
The adoption of tuition rates will take place at the BOV meeting on April 20 at William & Mary in the Board Room on the third floor of Blow Memorial Hall located at 262 Richmond Road.
