Gerrit Smith is the Executive Assistant to the President, Office Manager, and Chief FOIA Officer at Richard Bland College. He earned his A.S. degree from Richard Bland College, a B.A. in Government from the College of William & Mary, a M.A. in European Languages and Literature (German) from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa, a M.P.A. from the University of Oklahoma, and a J.D. from the Ohio State University College of Law. Prior to returning to Richard Bland College, he worked for over fifteen years as an attorney in Richmond on product liability cases. Previously he also served as legal intern at the Ohio House of Representatives and law clerk at the United States Senate. Furthermore, he taught German at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa while working on his graduate degree. Gerrit is happy to be back at his alma mater and sees it as a privilege to assist Richard Bland College and its students in any way he can.
