  • How do I become a casino dealer?

    • Virginia Casino Employment Requirements
      To work as a casino dealer in Virginia, you must meet the following criteria:

      • Be at least 21 years old
      • Have a high school diploma or GED
      • Pass a pre-employment drug test
      • Be able to obtain a gaming license, which includes a background check
      • Have flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
      • Be trained in at least one casino game

  • Where are the Dealer School classes held?

    • All Dealer School classes take place at our 3333 South Crater Road Petersburg, VA 23805 

      * you must be enrolled to participate

  • Who teaches the classes?

    • All of our Dealer School trainers are certified active casino professionals.

  • How many students are in each class?

    • Each Dealer School course is limited to a maximum of 25  students, ensuring personalized instruction and more one-on-one time with the instructor.

  • What times are classes offered?

    • Dealer School classes are held Monday through Thursday, with three convenient time slots to choose from: 

      • 8:oo–12:00 p.m.
      • 2:00–6:00 p.m.
      • 7:00–11:00 p.m.

  • Which course should I take first?

    • Your starting point is ACT 1: Blackjack Dealer.

       

  • What if English isn’t my first language?

    • Our Dealer School welcomes a diverse student population, and our instructors are skilled in supporting learners from a wide range of backgrounds. Please note that all courses are taught in English. To succeed in the program, students should have a strong understanding of the English language.

  • Can I get extra time to practice outside of class?

    • We offer open lab time for all current students. This free practice session, supervised by an instructor, is available several times a week.

  • How do I pay for the courses?

    • Our first introductory to Blackjack course, starting on August 4th, is FREE for the first 100 participants. Participants, however, will have to purchase their Blackjack kit. The kit costs $129, some scholarships may be awarded.

  • Will I be guaranteed a job after completing the program?

    • No, however, Live! Casino & Hotel will be conducting interviews after the completion of the first class for the Fall 2025 Opening of the Live! Casino in Petersburg.
