How do I become a casino dealer?

Virginia Casino Employment Requirements
To work as a casino dealer in Virginia, you must meet the following criteria:- Be at least 21 years old
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Pass a pre-employment drug test
- Be able to obtain a gaming license, which includes a background check
- Have flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Be trained in at least one casino game

All of our Dealer Institute trainers are certified active casino professionals.

What times are classes offered?

Dealer Institute classes are held Monday through Thursday, with three convenient time slots to choose from:
- 8:oo–12:00 p.m.
- 2:00–6:00 p.m.
- 7:00–11:00 p.m.

Your starting point is ACT 1: Blackjack Dealer with opportunities to advance.

What if English isn’t my first language?

Our Dealer Institute welcomes a diverse student population, and our instructors are skilled in supporting learners from a wide range of backgrounds. Please note that all courses are taught in English. To succeed in the program, students should have a strong understanding of the English language.

Can I get extra time to practice outside of class?

We offer open lab time for all current students. This free practice session, supervised by an instructor, is available several times a week.

How do I pay for the courses?

Our first introductory to the Blackjack course starts on September 8th. Participants will have to purchase their Blackjack kit for $50 (fifty dollars) CASH ONLY. The kit normally costs $129, some scholarships may be awarded.

Will I be guaranteed a job after completing the program?

While employment is not guaranteed upon completing the Dealer School Institute certification, applicants are still encouraged to apply.
