Michaelyn Fisher is the latest Richard Bland College (RBC) Statesman to sign with an NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Division I institution. The RBC sprinter/jumper will continue her academic and athletic pursuits at New Mexico State University next fall.

Fisher boasts an impressive resume—an NJCAA (National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association) All-American in the long jump with a leap of 18’6,” the College’s 100-meter dash record holder with a time of 11.65, as well as a 24.91 time in the 200-meter dash, which is among the top five performances in RBC history.

“Michaelyn is an extraordinary talent whose work ethic matches her ability,” said Rashad Cannon, Head Track & Field and Assistant Cross Country Coach. “She’s elevated our program from the moment she arrived and her versatility in both sprints and jumps makes her an invaluable asset to our team.

“We couldn’t be prouder to see her continue her journey at the Division I level.”

“Michaelyn is more than ready for the Division I stage and we are thrilled to see her take this next step,” RBC Athletics Director Scott Newton added.

Up next, Fisher and her teammates will compete in the VCU Rams Indoor Invitational at the Virginia Beach Sports Center on January 9.
