Richard Bland College (RBC) proudly announces Men’s Basketball standout guard Doyle Brown has signed an NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Division I offer to Northwestern State University of Louisiana. Brown becomes the first Men’s Basketball player since 2021 to earn a Division I opportunity.

Known for his work ethic, leadership and on-court impact, Brown has been a driving force for the team, as well as a model student-athlete. His achievement reflects the strength of the RBC Men’s Basketball program and its commitment to developing players who excel both on and off the court.

“Doyle Brown was the first Men’s Basketball commit in my tenure,” said Guillermo Cabrera, RBC Men’s Basketball Coach. “From the moment he arrived, he set a very high standard for our program and his teammates.

“All his accomplishments on and off the floor are a result of his hard work. We look forward to following his career on and off the floor.”

“We can’t wait to see Doyle continue both his athletic and academic journey at the next level,” RBC Athletics Director Scott Newton added.

Five games into the 2025-26 season, Brown is averaging 17 points, three rebounds and two assists per game. The Men’s Basketball team, which competes in NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) Division I in the Region 10 Conference, is currently 3-2 and undefeated at home. The team’s next match-up will be at home against Wake Technical Community College on Dec. 3.
