The William & Mary Board of Visitors will hold a meeting September 22-24, 2021. The purpose of the meeting is to conduct regular business of the Board. On Wednesday, September 22, the Richard Bland College Committee will meet from 2:00 – 4:00p.m. in Ernst Hall on the Richard Bland College campus, located at 11301 Johnson Road, South Prince George, VA.

Richard Bland College is pleased to recognize more than 225 students who have earned distinction on the President’s and Dean’s List for the 2021 spring semester. One hundred and seventeen students earned a 3.8 grade point average (GPA) and above for placement on the President’s List. An additional 119 students rated Dean’s List status with a 3.25 to 3.79 GPA. All students are required to carry a minimum of 12 credit hours to earn academic distinction.

After more than a year of COVID-19 related restrictions, this fall the Richard Bland College campus will look and feel familiar to employees and students when normal campus operations resume. Students will be able to attend their classes on campus or choose from a wide selection of hybrid and online options.

Thirty students from Richard Bland College were recently inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society for academic achievement, joining 28 RBC students in the organization. Students earning a 3.5 grade point average or higher during the academic year are eligible for membership into the Alpha Beta Omicron Chapter of PTK, which specifically honors Richard Bland students. The College now boasts 148 PTK members.

Justice Cleo E. Powell, who has served on the Supreme Court of Virginia since 2011, will deliver the keynote address at Richard Bland College’s 58th Commencement Ceremony on May 20, 2021. Due to the global coronavirus pandemic, this year’s ceremony will be held virtually.

Richard Bland College has partnered with Purdue University Global to enable graduates achieving a 2.0 GPA or above to receive a 20 percent discount when they take courses at Purdue Global. Richard Bland College employees are also covered to take courses and receive a 14 percent discount.

President Debbie Sydow has named Dr. Tyler Hart as provost at Richard Bland College. Dr. Hart has served the College in many key administrative capacities over the last decade, most recently as Chief Administrative Officer overseeing Development, Marketing & Communications, Campus Safety and Information Technology.

Richard Bland College has been approved for reaffirmation of accreditation through 2029 from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), a regional accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education.

The meeting will be held in accordance with Item 4-0.01.g of the 2020 Appropriation Act, which provides governing boards with the ability to hold meetings electronically without a quorum present while the Commonwealth is under a State of Emergency.
