Forum on Experiential Learning at RBC

@ SSHE Auditorium

November 30, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join President Debbie L. Sydow and the RBC Community for November’s Campus Forum on Experiential Learning.  Simply stated, experiential learning is learning by doing. The goal of this type of education is to offer students the opportunity to utilize what they are learning in the classroom and apply it to the outside world. Experiential learning can include internships, service learning, off-campus programs and outdoor education. Such experiences often result in a great deal of personal growth, in addition to enhancing critical thinking and decision-making skills.

At RBC staff have worked to create unique experiential learning opportunities for students. The forum will highlight three students who have participated in experiential learning trips in the past, and will offer information about the exciting opportunities we have to offer this year.

Part I: Stream Ecosystem Assessment in West Virginia (Dr. Miller and Student)

Part II: Alternative Spring Break (ASB ’17): Hobcaw Barony, SC (Dr. Birdsong/Dr. Miller and Cecy G./Kala E.)

Part III: HistoriCorps: Summer in Alaska 2017 (Jamie Tobias and Jacob Howe)
