Richard Bland College Announces Southern Knights Cruisers Scholarship
Richard Bland College of William & Mary and Southern Knights Cruisers, Inc. have announced the creation of a Southern Knights Cruisers, Inc. endowed scholarship to support area students.
Richard Bland College awards about $150,000 in scholarships annually, and the need has consistently grown in recent years, according to President Debbie L. Sydow. “When community partners like Southern Knights Cruisers step up to provide financial support to deserving students, the impact to families and the region is significant,” said Sydow. “While Richard Bland College is one of the most affordable colleges in Virginia, many students would not have the opportunity to earn a college degree without scholarships made possible by organizations like Southern Knights Cruisers.”
Southern Knights Cruisers is a non-profit club under IRS Section 501 (c) 7 formed in 2004 by local car hobbyists who enjoy showing and driving their old cars and who are dedicated to raising money to help veterans through the enjoyment of the hobby.
“Southern Knights Cruisers has been a longstanding supporter of Richard Bland College and its students,” said Ricky Williams, President of Southern Knights Cruisers, Inc. “The College has hosted our annual car show which is going on its 17th year, and we are excited to establish a new scholarship to support students in our community.”
