It wasn’t until she enrolled at Richard Bland College of William & Mary, however, that her fascination blossomed into a love affair that she hopes will lead to a career in the field.

The distance between Lisbon, Portugal and South Prince George, Virginia is 3,628 miles. For Honors Student and men’s soccer player Rodrigo Carvalho, who hails from Portugal’s capital and largest city, acclimating to the rural Richard Bland College campus and more serene pace the area provides was a seamless transition.

Matoaca resident Darianne Addington worked tirelessly to become a Statesman Scholar at Richard Bland College of William & Mary. The second year Honor Student starts her day at the crack of dawn and doesn’t stop until the wee hours of morning. She adeptly balances being a commuter student at RBC with a rigorous academic schedule and a full-time job.

Richmond native Jason Nesmith might be the busiest student on the Richard Bland College of William & Mary campus. He’s a member of the Honors Program, an RA in the dorms and a Student Ambassador. He’s an accomplished musician and a member of the Music Club. His schedule also includes being a member of the Historical Society and holding down a campus job as a student success coordinator.
