Dinwiddie County, in partnership with Richard Bland College of William & Mary and DroneUp, LLC, was among the 10 economic development projects recognized at the Virginia Economic Developers Association (VEDA) Winter Membership meeting.

“The scope, depth and innovation of the 10 award-winning projects truly is inspiring and a testament to the ingenuity of our membership,” said Christina Winn, VEDA’s 2023 President and the Executive Director of Prince William County Department of Economic Development. “Congratulations to all the well-deserving recipients.”

Dinwiddie County partnered with DroneUp, LLC—a leading Virginia-based drone flight services innovator and aviation technology provider—and established a new testing, training, research and development center for drone operators at Richard Bland College. The $20.2 million investment will create 145 new jobs in the region.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) helped secure the project by collaborating with the aforementioned entities as well as the City of Virginia Beach and Virginia’s Gateway Region. Click here to learn more about the project.

VEDA helps shape economic development public policy in the Commonwealth. It also provides education and networking opportunities for economic development professionals.
